Media Release from the Elgin Area Leadership Academy:
"The 2010-11 class of Elgin Area Leadership Academy (EALA) graduated on April 30, celebrating their completion of an eight-month intensive leadership program that provided them insight into many aspects of their community.
A program of the Elgin Area Chamber, Dan Fox and Don Waters have served as the volunteer co-coordinators of the EALA Class since its inception in 1991. "When you bring this many people together--people who have consistently demonstrated enthusiasm and leadership in their careers--you experience great energy and see amazing examples of leadership,” said Dan Fox.
This award-winning program designed to meet the communities’ needs for active participation and networking of informed and dedicated community leaders. "EALA is an incredible experience,” says Don Waters. “This leadership program prepares, challenges, and engages emerging and existing leaders to strengthen their community."

Since EALA was introduced in 1991, more than 400 hundred local business, government and neighborhood persons have completed the program and have committed to become stronger leaders for our community.
Recruitment begins soon for the next class which will kick-off with an orientation in September and run through May, 2012. Applicants should display a commitment and motivation to serve the Elgin area, a commitment to volunteerism, resulting in significant influence on important issues facing the community, and the ability to make the time commitment required by the program.
