"Life demands from you the strength that you possess.
Only one feat is possible - not to have run away."

Several years ago at this time, I had a total body lift performed over the course of two surgeries.
"NO WALKING," was what the doctors emphatically told me, but they were rather vague about info on exactly for how long. Can you imagine me not walk every day? Even now, with my walking wings clipped while I wait for my second knee replacement to roll around, I find it interesting when doctors tell me not to walk. And I panic.
Telling someone like me, an elite walker who has logged over 25,000 miles since January 1, 2003 (and leaving 150 pounds in her wake), not to walk is like telling a shark not to swim.
As one of my favorite sisters recently said to me: "My thoughts always go to you as I walk and meditate, because I know you are doing it daily, too"
Those close to me know exactly how important daily walking is to my health, weight loss maintenance and well-being. They also know how important it is for each of them, too. There are absolutely no excuses for me or anyone else not to eat right and do daily cardio.
Be sure you keep a grip on those white starch and sugar carbs and try not to get carried away with your portions over the rest of the Holidays.
The more pounds you pack on during the next few weeks will only make it that much more difficult for you to dig in and Commit To Get Fit once the New Year arrives and you've come to your senses.
Trust me, many's the time I wish I could've just turned tail and ran away during my weight loss journey. I didn't think I had the strength to see it through. I knew I had to develop the power to get 'er done - and I did. Now I'm so much healthier for it, I can't even tell you. I'd never go back to my old way of eating, thinking and being, ever. It's just not worth it. It's not me anymore. I've changed for the better. I know you can, too.
And for those in the Fox Valley and Chicagoland areas who are interested in changing for the better, don't forget our Elgin's Biggest Loser 4 competition begins January 5, 2011. Go to www.elginsbiggestloser.com for the details and registration form.
Happy Holidays and here's to a healthy and absolutely Heavenly 2011.
And PS: If I and our friend, the "Now If" 2,000-Pound Cow, (shown in my book) has the strength to keep walking in this ungodly cold and snowy weather, do what it takes so you can too!
And don't forget to tune into "The Laura Dion-Jones Show," Wednesdays on WRMN 1401 AM from 3-4 PM CST or listen in internationally on www.wrmn1410.com.
